Knitting Socks Magic Loop Style!
- Sep 25, 2019 09:30 am

Fireplace, hot chocolate and a soft, warm pair of hand-knit socks. Yes, please! This sock knitting class will introduce you to the Magic Loop technique. This method for working in the round uses a long circular needle instead of double-pointed needles. By using (at least) a 36" circular needle, you can knit projects with very small circumferences, such as hats, sleeve cuffs, and, of course, SOCKS! In this class you will learn how to cast-on your socks on the circular needle, heel and foot shaping, grafting the toe, plus some tips and tricks for success! We will be knitting our socks one at a time in the top-down, cuff-to-toe fashion.

Have you ever purchased a beautiful skein of hand-dyed yarn and been disappointed when knit? Understanding the dyer's artwork is the first step in retaining the beauty of the skein. The second is creating a fabric that highlights the dye pattern. The visual ?Gestalt? effect is the reason that a hand-dyed yarn becomes a stunning fabric. This workshop teaches the knitter simple rules that create a Gestalt fabric based upon individual skein characteristics. The goal is to move from ?performing a stitch in a pattern? to ?understanding the way a stitch will look and perform?. Skills needed: None Supplies: 2 or 3 skeins (not cakes) of hand-dyed yarn for group evaluation Maximum Class Size 12 Material (workbook) fee $5.00
