How to read a Crochet Pattern

July 24th, 10am & 1pm, How to read a Crochet pattern and Drop in hour. This class will use the Virus Shawl pattern as our sample pattern to follow. So dubbed because the pattern replicates, like a virus, it is a repeating crochet shell that grows out and down to make a triangular shawl. (This pattern of stitches is also sometimes called German Shells or German Scallops.) It uses chains, single crochet, and double crochet stitches. This class will review the written pattern and stitch diagram so students can learn to understand either or both. We'll also touch on crochet stitch name localization. Class attendees are expected to bring a crochet hook and yarn. Fortunately Ewe & I has a wide variety of both! We're on hand to help you pick out your tools the day of if you want assistance.

Beginning Crochet for Kids

Beginning Crochet Class for Kids.
Crochet is a process of creating textiles by using a crochet hook to interlock loops of yarn, thread, or strands of other materials. In this class we will learn how to make a foundation chain and the three most common crochet stitches. With this knowledge you can make scarves, pot holders, face cloths, throw pillow covers; basically anything with four sides. Fundamentals like counting stitches, keeping sides straight and even, and tips and tricks will be shared to help launch new crocheter in the hobby or revive the muscle memory for folks who've not picked up a hook in years. 
Any yarn and any hook is appropriate. Students will receive a written pattern and personal instruction. Class attendees are expected to bring a crochet hook and yarn. Fortunately Ewe & I has a wide variety of both! We're on hand to help you pick out your tools the day of if you want assistance.

Beginning Spinning

Wendy Clark will walk you through fiber selection, fiber preparation all the way to making a plied yarn. Included will be content on how spinning wheels work and how to make them work for you. This is a 3 session course beginning on the date you choose to begin.

Cost: $ 150.00
This project consists of eight very different stitches and you can incorporate blocks of single, half double, and double crochet stitches too. You don't have to use every stitch, but you can use any of them to make a wonderfully warm and textured statement scarf. The scarf is meant to be interesting and varied for the seasoned crocheter, while still giving beginners achievable stitches that build muscle memory, tension consistency, technique, and help them explore more challenging patterns in the near future. 
Hook: 4.0mm
Yarn: This scarf is made from one 200 gram/600m ball of NORO Tsubame yarn, Yarn Weight Medium (4) (50% Silk, 25% Wool, 25% Polyamide) or other Medium 4 weight yarn of your choice. 
Sizing: One Size.

 We will be resuming classes cautiously.  We ask that all participants wear a mask and be prepared to safely distance from the others in the class.  We all want to stay healthy and well!

 


Class Policies

We encourage you to sign up for classes online or in the store.  Please register in advance. 

We may cancel a class if the minimum number of students has not been met 2 days prior to class time.
Refunds will be given in full 7 days prior to class, 50% will be refunded 4 days prior to class, and no refunds within 2 days of class.
