Beginning Weaving



Beginning 3-part/4-shaft Weaving

In this 3-part class you will learn how to dress your loom, create a sampler of various 2/2 & 3/1 twills and dress your loom for the final scarf project.

Session 1.

Anatomy of a 4-harness loom, including tools and terms used in weaving
Reading a threading draft
Winding a warp
Understating the importance of the “cross”
Dressing the loom

Session 2.

Reading the weaving portion of your draft
Winding and throwing the shuttle
Spreading the warp using a raddle
Hemstitching
Begin the sampler
Advancing the warp
Adding more weft
Fixing a broken warp thread

Session 3.

Finishing
Keeping records
Planning a project
Fibers and weave
Finish sampler
Wind warp for the scarf and dress loom
