Beginning Weaving Course Syllabus
Session 1:
Introductions
Anatomy of a 4 harness loom, plus tools and terms used in weaving
Sampler project explained
Winding a warp
Reading a threading draft and dressing the loom
Session 2:
Weaving your sampler: Reading the weaving portion of your draft, winding and throwing the shuttle, spreading the warp to start, hemstitching, advancing the warp, adding more weft, fixing a broken warp
Scarf project – choosing a pattern and yarn suggestions (may want to acquire before session 3)
Homework – weave as much of the sampler as possible before the next session
Session 3:
Finishing (It’s not done until it’s finished!)
Keeping records
Planning a project, including fibers and weave pattern considerations
Finish sampler, hemstitching the end
Measure scarf warp and dress the loom
