Wool Breed Study: East Friesian

This course is for spinners/knitters/crocheters! When registering for this class, please designate whether you are a spinner, knitter, or crocheter after your name on the signup page.

East Friesian sheep originate from the German and Netherland areas and Germany recognized them as a breed in 1890. While the breed is know for their prolific milk production their wool is also wonderful for fiber arts. We will explore the different techniques to spin, knit, and crochet.

Whether you are a spinner, knitter, crocheter, or weaver it is invaluable to understand our yarns from the source. How will the yarn behave based on the fiber? Does the fiber lend itself to memory or drape?

Spinners
will prepare a washed fleece to spin. Hand carders, a drum carder, and combs will be available. Each spinning participant will receive samples of East Friesian Sheep Fleece to take home.
