Wool Breed Study: Finn Sheep

This course is for spinners/knitters/crocheters! When registering for this class, please designate whether you are a spinner, knitter, or crocheter after your name on the signup page.

Finn sheep originate from Findland. Finn sheep are famous for birthing litters, three to five babies at a time and can birth twice a year. They are a primitive breed that come in a variety of colors from white, brown, black, and badger. Their fleece is fine (next to skin soft) around the sides, back and neck. Their staple length can vary depending on shearing time.

Spinners will prepare a washed fleece to spin with tools appropriate to the fiber length. Each spinning participant will receive different samples of Finn Sheep Fleece to take home.

Supplies needed for spinning: Spinning wheel, 3-4 bobbins, a lazy kate, drop or supported spindle. Please bring wool processing tools if you have them.
