Literally Over the Top Class

This summer tank top is a perfect way to work on your lace knitting skills while we dream of warmer weather!  The construction is simple and the lace pattern is easily memorized.  Depending on the size you choose it can be worn to hug your curves or more loosely skim your body.  It is knit flat and does require some seaming, which adds structure to the garment.  

In this class you will learn: how to read a chart, seaming, lace stitches

Between class sessions you will receive pattern support from Melissa Zentz.  You also have the opportunity to be part of the group text chat to share your progress or frustrations with the group.  This is a community of support for all participants!  

Skills needed: cast on/off, knit stitches, purl stitches, yarn over. 

Supplies needed: 

• Fingering weight yarn or lace yarn (held double). 

• Knitting Needles: US size 3 & 4 either circular needles or straight needles (your preference).

• Stitch markers

• Tapestry needle

Homework: 

• Complete a swatch so you are ready to begin the sweater.  If you are not comfortable completing a swatch in advance or are not able to before the start of class, that’s ok. You’ll need to work on your swatch during the first class.

• If possible, have your ribbing started so we can jump right into the lace. If this is not done, no problem!  We will get you going regardless!
